That’s an election that is just too one-sided to be any sign of fair representation of ANY side of the aisle.

Not the few, by many…but I digress. I’ll give an example: Mecklenburg County needed to appoint a sherrif. The old sherrif was leaving his post to work for the Department of Homeland Security. He recommended that the city council consider as a replacement, his first in command. He was agreed with by the city council, but votes were required from the community. At the last minute…enter Nick Mackey. An unknown black attorney with a dubious background, who had been forced to resign from the police department for conduct, with questions as to whether he could even be bonded…thusly unqualified. After several allegations of voter fraud, precinct rigging, and a decidedly one-sided “election,” Mackey had enough “votes” to take the job, but the “race” was so obviously fixed, that many members of the city council opposed it. All Hell broke loose! In the end, the head of the Dem party for the county was forced to resign, and Mackey was not instated to the job, but the social costs to the community were enormous. After the Nick Mackey debacle in Charlotte, black activists constantly threatened to organize and dump anyone on the city council who had opposed him…even though he had no qualifications for the job for which he was being pushed into…just because he was black…no more, no less! Well, Charlotte now has a few NEW members of the city council…many of whom just happened to be very vocal in support of an unqualified candidate for sherrif.

So what happened to Mackey?? Did he fall upon hard times and end up homeless and on the street? Nope….NOW, he’s a state rep after yesterday…representing the same districts that were accused of voter fraud before…and thusly Mecklenburg County in his state.

I think he’s a very educated man with many layers of understanding regarding cultures, religions, and how the two interact. Since I’ve never heard one hatful word come out of the mouth of Obama, I tend to overlook this man..I don’t feel he’s nearly as significant as the white pundits make him out to be. Obama was one of his 8,000 member congregation and I guess I say…who the heck cares! The saddest part of all this is that judgemental America demanded Obama to denounce his pastor only so they could move onto the next smear. The Rev. made it easy for Barack to distance and end the relationship/friendship. So now I ask…what did all that chaos and frenzy accomplish other than causing the Rev. to become defiant and sarcastic in his years of retirement.

The surrogate makes the statement; it doesn’t play well; the surrogate makes a lame cover statement. Senator Clinton says that she believes the cover story. She is the only person on the planet that believes the cover story. This is exactly what John Edwards has been talking about. Senator Clinton is giving a wink and a nod cover to a big contributor - will she bend the rules and principles for other big contributors? When the drug companies come calling, will she bend the rules for them? Everyone in the media ignored this point and focused on the race issue - this is more important and you passed it by. Shame on you.

Senator Clinton said “The Tides Are Turning” and she could be right due to the fact that almost all of the news media is trying to create fear in the minds of the American people by reporting false wars and now global food rationings. The white pundit are repeating Rev.Wright the bitter comment over and over again. Any rumor of Obama is repeated it’ so transparent that white only pundits. Are playing the race card!
These lies must stop; the American people deserve the truth. Lies such as these are the not so clever political hierarchies in order to steal democracy from the voters. What better way is there to make the American people believe that Senator Obama is not experienced enough to handle Bush’s war in Iraq, a fake potential war in Iran, and now global food rationings. Come on! Do these political hierarchies really think the American people are that stupid?
It appears that Senator Clinton seem to be holding a gun to someone’s head by threatening to expose God knows what to the American people if she is not nominated as the Democratic nominee. If this is not true how is it that, Senator Clinton says the tides are turning and to anybodies wonder, all of the news media is reporting global food rationings and a new war with Iran.
The truth of the matter is the Clintons were in the White House when our economy first began to falter. You can blame it on NAFTA and who knows what. I do know Enron took most of the blame by falsifying the economy to created a since of financial security in America. Whatever happened in the White House during the Clinton’s administration, it has left the American people in financial ruins, yet the Clintons emerged 100 million richer.
On the other hand, Senator Obama has proven to the American people that he can accomplish whatever he set out to do. He is running a very organized and successful campaign and most importantly, he has not received financial support from any large corporation, which eliminates any obligation to these free wheelers.
The Clintons and the news media must stop reporting false worldwide events.

You go ANN! ANYONE thinking of spending money in the state of NORTH CAROLINA should think about this as seriously as you have! I’m ashamed of my home state! I’m ashamed for Nifong’s cowardace to stand up to the threats from black organizers in his community. Do you think that the defendents in this case were the only ones threatened?? I’m ashamed for the Charlotte city council elections, and those with similar results in the state (in many cases, just pure race-voting). I’m mostly ashamed for the fact that CBS News could call the Obama win at 7:30 pm…the same time the polls closed! In this case, that’s not even a bust on CBS News. That’s an election that is just too one-sided to be any sign of fair representation of ANY side of the aisle.

I am from the south and I’m not at all surprised at the idiots in that state of North Carolina. I just hope they get what they deserve. I’m beginning to hope that obama does get the nomination. Then I know that McCain will be our next president, unless more idiots come out of the woodwork for obama. I have always heard the quote ” you can be highly educated book wise, but have absolutely no common sense”. Now, I will say upfront that I am not a crimnologist, medical doctor, sociologist, psychologist, statistician, or other expert in these matters, but I fundamentally disagree with these statements about homocides in the Black community, and want to make the common sense argument. Listen, racial killing by whites, especially those in law enforcement (reportedly 500-1,000 per year) which are protected by the white government generally, or racist vigilante violence, are totally different from the conditions in the Black community which produce homocides.
First, these statistics are not necessarily “racial” at all, because the USA population generally leads the world in the number of domestic homicides. To extrapolate some racial “diagnosis” that Black people are more prone to violence than anyone else in American society is nonsense and shows how we can easily internalize racist propaganda. Even if it *were* true there are some deep social causes that would make it happen, which are not only out of our control, but of which we are *victims*. But let me point out that whites commit fundamentally more crimes in American society, including homicides, [against other whites] than the Black population group, even with all the “ghetto” homocides included.
There should no mystery that whites are the majority of crime perpetrators, and I believe it’s merely because they are the largest population base generally in the USA. A grade school child can figure this out. What should we surmise about white people as a result of such information? That they are a race of criminals, a natural criminal class?
Well, in a racist media, it could easily be argued: “White on White crime is destroying the nation, and producing a class of violent criminals (white elementary students and street corner juveniles), which must be incarcerated at an early age to protect society.” Now this is a *spoof*, just a way to show that the white racist government has been manipulating crime data, to justify all manner of repressive police measure against the poor and the working class Black communities, by putting white folks in our place as the victims of such racialized crime reporting. Do you see this now and understand why the so-called crime “statistics” from the government are not believable? It’s all a political ploy, don’t believe the hype!
I don’t put forth the opinion of a natural criminal class among white youth, and certainly don’t accept it about Black people, Latinos, Asians or others. I also don’t believe in superstition, notions of White or Black supremacy, a “race of devils” or super-men, and I know for a fact that all this is racist propaganda. Racism has a material foundation: capitalism and the profit system, and it must be fought, not justified. Certainly, Black people should not swallow and regurgitate such garbage, and it really bothers me when I hear black conservatives on TV or the internet doing just that. It seems that the Black upper class, Republican conservatives and some reactionary race nationalists are the ones to fall for this, and spread it as gospel.
But the conditions that working class Black people live under clealy have to be considered in talking about frequency of homocides. People who exist as a despised racial minority, who have internalized self-hatred, the internal violence of the oppressor, and extreme frustration at their condition are most likely to explode, either in an act of internecine violence towards other Black people, [who are in closer proximity and whom they know that the government regards their lives in lower esteem so there will not likely be harsh punishment], or against the government itself in a so-called “riot” or social rebellion against the conditions of oppression. Read “The Wretched of the Earth” and other work by Franz Fanon, material by Albert Memmi and others about the “colonized mind” and internalized violence.
Because I know beforehand that I will be attacked about it, let me say that I do not apologize for individual acts of violence in our community. But I also recognize that it is the white capitalist government which condones and promotes violence as a way of solving all social problems: between different racial groups, between women and men, between men generally, between families, and other elements in the community internally, and between nation-states *internationally* in the form of war and military aggression.
This government creates the conditions of oppression and violence, and then effectively allows a ton of guns on the street to carry out these homocides. Let’s get real here, and not be suckered in by the right-wing white conservatives and their arguments of more cops and more prisons as the “solution”. Look, Black people don’t have to help George W. Bush, that racist Attorney General, and the reactionary right-wing, destroy the poor in the inner city and overturn civil rights, they can do alright on their own. In fact, we have to fight for all of our people, and against Bush’s anti-people agenda generally.
So here’s what I’m saying in my conclusion: a crumbling empire and morally bankrupt nation is dying and manifesting every form of deviance. Yes, this society has created sick, violent individuals, after all it is the most violent society on earth. But at this stage the answer is to try to understand why all this violence is really happening, and then fight to eradicate the conditions that produce crime and violence. We must build a new society, not protect this racist system.

I will make one comment though, to Melvin. Since you are likely supporting Obama, it might help you to know that he disagrees with your line of reasoning about the issues that you state…according to his speeches and books at least. I could be misinterpreting your implications, though and possibly your support. I suppose it is possible that you do you consider him to also be part of the “Black upper class” that is also guilty of spreading false messages. Would that be correct?

Obama got N.C. because of the black votes 92%. Does that mean only 8% are christians, How could a christian vote for a liberal PRO- CHOICE democrate. This tell me that ” blacks vote black”. Thats all that matters to them.
