Saw this story about John McCain:

[Ret. Col. Bud] Day relayed to me one of the stories Americans should hear. It involves what happened to him after escaping from a North Vietnamese prison during the war. When he was recaptured, a Vietnamese captor broke his arm and said, “I told you I would make you a cripple.”
The break was designed to shatter Mr. Day’s will. He had survived in prison on the hope that one day he would return to the United States and be able to fly again. To kill that hope, the Vietnamese left part of a bone sticking out of his arm, and put him in a misshapen cast. This was done so that the arm would heal at “a goofy angle,” as Mr. Day explained. Had it done so, he never would have flown again.

But it didn’t heal that way because of John McCain. Risking severe punishment, Messrs. McCain and Day collected pieces of bamboo in the prison courtyard to use as a splint. Mr. McCain put Mr. Day on the floor of their cell and, using his foot, jerked the broken bone into place. Then, using strips from the bandage on his own wounded leg and the bamboo, he put Mr. Day’s splint in place.

Years later, Air Force surgeons examined Mr. Day and complemented the treatment he’d gotten from his captors. Mr. Day corrected them. It was Dr. McCain who deserved the credit. Mr. Day went on to fly again.

Similarly, Barack Obama once continued to give a speech even though he knew a bee was in the room.

Enjoyed the pix. I always have enjoyed Whoopi and her humor! I loved her antics in the fundraiser comedy gigs for Katrina victims.

Greta - great pics… and I was watching Fox and Friends when Callista was taking the pics. - it my favorite morning show.

The story of McCain somehow doesn’t surprise me - he has that certain something that tells you he could and would do something to help and fix the problem… he is true life hero! - (Stallone said it best - I played a hero in the movies, but he is a hero - he is the real deal)

Although I do have issues with some of Mac’s positions, he is a hell of a man, and the more I find out the more I like. He definitely has my support.

Yeah Ken - He is a good man. - He will make a good President - he knows how to lead.

I disagree with some of his positions as well, but he is a true patriot. Wether or not he becomes our president; he should always be considered a true American Hero.

Heard a clip of Newt responding to an idiotic question from Joyce Behar. Newt should go on that show more so he can take apart their ridiculous positions. He does it with such ease.

Newt and his second wife looked great standing in front of the future Taco Bell. Wonder if he is learning “mexican”……. We just celebrated San Jacinto day in Texas and no school in Texas said one word about those great Texans who died defending the Alamo. ! Guess they hadn’t learned enough spanish to tell the mexican side of this slaughter. They surly didn’t mention all the loyal Texans who died defending the Alamo that were of Mexican decent.

But that’s the way it is now in Texas with the governor of Texas hiding behind the Boy Scouts to make brownie points !

Cheers and a Greta beer !

Ken H. and Lori,

You know in McCain’s book, “Faith of My Fathers”, I remember a passage in there about one of his torture sessions. The Vietnamese wanted the names of the guys in his squadron. When he could no longer take the pain, he gave them Green Bay Packer names. Evidently the VC didn’t know any better. That was cool!

I came back to the “View” when they replaced Rosie……with Whoopi. Whoopi throws logic out the window……when it comes to Obama.

I looked at some of the pictures. I don’t care for Whoopi, so didn’t look at those. I couldn’t find a place to leave a comment. I respect and admire Newt Gingrich and look forward to your show tonight, as always.

There were a whole lot of comments on this thread earlier………..? What happened to them?

Comment by Willy♥

I made a comment earlier just saying I would like to hear from other people than Newt Gingrich just for a change………. I read one talking about Newt’s personal life and another one that concurred with those sentiments. I read at least one comment from someone who is not a Whoppie Goldperson fan………….How strange that any even semi ‘anti Newt’ or ‘anti Whoopie’ comment is now gone from this thread. Considering some of the really vulgar and profane things that have been on this blog in the last few months, I am absolutely stunned to think these comments were ‘edited out’………….No one had been profane, no one was even approaching rude in the things that were said………….yet they are ALL gone. How very thought provoking!

Do you mean the Newt that left his dying wife? I always thought that a newt was a snake with legs!

Dear Greta

I like Whoopie Goldberg. She was born and grew up in Harlem in NewYork City. She made it in her life withoutht forgeting the “Less fortunates regardless of Race.” Her TV show was “Strong Medicine,” It was a show about Philadelphia’s medical Institurion. In the show “she helped to move a free clinic from south philly to Rittenhouse Hospital.” she was not a direct person in the show. We loved that show.

The free clinic in “Strong Medicine”was ran by a Poturican doctor, a White male nurse( not a homosexual) and a black woman secretory. Patients of the clinic was mixed races. White, hispanic, black, oriental. The show was the perfect representationof my Philadelphia.

Callista, thank you for mentioning what kind of camera Greta has. I was curious, but if it was mentioned in other posts, I missed it.
