Greta — I just want to let you know that I realize my spelling mistake in V.P. Quayle’s name in my earlier post! I am not smarter than a fifth-grader either!

Greta, I am a mother who lost her only daughter to street racing. There were 3 other kids in the car with her that was going 130 mph. My daughter was hanging out of the car as it flipped multiple times and then she was ejected 70+ feet when the car finally stopped. There was another eye witness that heard and saw the cars racing, the wreck and finally my daughter sailing through the air. My daughter was so mangled the corner cried.

She was just going for a ride in the parking lot but the driver had other plans. She had left her keys in the ignition of her car along with her purse and cell phone. The other two girls in the car with her also left their purses and cell phones in my daughter’s car. None were intending to race.

The 16 year old driver received 3 months suspended license and house arrest. Years later the driver came to my home and told me he “thought he got off light”.

If one child was given a stiff sentence maybe mothers could stop picking up the pieces of their children on the asphalt! Parents being fined for children street racing would be another big deterrent.

I want to address your interview w/John Murtagh you did on May 2nd regarding the bombing of his family home when he was a boy by the Wether Underground and the relationship between Obama and Bill Ayers. What I heard regarding the involvement of Bill Ayers and his wife with these Wether Underground is very disturbing considering the fact they have a relationship with Obama and his wife. Why are we not hearing more regarding this interview in the media or is the media so in love w/Obama and dislikes Hillary so much they are willing to let this relationship with Bill Ayers disappear? It seems Obama is to be held above it all by the media/pundits!!!! What else is in Obama’s past and why are the pundits and media protecting him so?!!?

I have been waiting to see if any more was ever brought up about the several cases of alcohol that the Hulk bought the day of the terrible accident. Didn’t he take the guys out on his boat before they had the terrible wreck? Didn’t his son have alcohol in his system, at the time of the accident? Why wasn’t Terry charge with giving underaged children alcohol? Why wasn’t Terry held responsible when he was with his son on previous occasions driving reckless speeds, he was in the car too, wasn’t he.

I believe the sentence was to light. He should have been sentence so that he would at least have to serve eight months. How long will his sentence be with good behavior? As for the rest of his sentence, he should be aloud to drive when his victim has recovered from the damage he caused. He should be labeled a felon, since he did an adult type crime… he was drinking like an adult wasn’t he? I guess we should feel sorry for him because he feels bad about it, so he say’s at sentencing. We shouldn’t deem him a felon and destroy the rest of his life;is that what Terry thinks. Hey, call me a felon and let me live off of my daddy’s millions any day of the week. Remorse is not just saying your sorry. It’s changing your lifestyle, its telling anyone who will listen how horrible you feel. It would seem more real if we knew he wasn’t just saying what the lawyers told him to say.

I have to admit watching their reality show several times. I alway’s kind of felt sorry for the old Hulkster… Spoiled wife, braty kids… I understood why he wrestled (even though I’m not a fan of the sport), it was the only place he got any respect. His wife acted like a immature teenager, and his son was a carbon copy. His daughter was more like him I thought. Goal orinated and would end up more then just one more rich loser in life. When I watched the show I felt sorry for him because seem to always be looking for their approval. 8 months in jail for Hulk Hogan’s spoiled son who nearly killed his best friend? And not one genuine tear of remourse the punk stood before the judge and talked about what he did to his “best friend”? They have carefully groomed Obama to be where he is today. The DNC does not want to realize by nominating Obama as the Democratic runner for President they are also nominating his mentors. I greatly fear fo our country because of this blindness. Nothing good can come from a person who is himself filled with hatred for white americans, our country and filled with racism. It is all about black power. He was groomed to represent that power by his mentors.

The show Rev. Wright put on was not to diminish Obama’s capacity, but to take societies eye off of Obama for what he actually represents. Granted Obama is a great speaker and was trained to do so as a lawyer, but he does not speak to the people, he preaches to them. I cannot remember hearing him give a speech where I did not feel I was in a church being preached to.

As things begin to unfold and the Democrat Super Delegates jump on the Obama bandwagon, I am left to remove myself from affillation with the Democratic Party. I do not take this lightly. I have been a Democrat for 48 years. Never before have I felt such intimedation and racial fear within this party. I will vote Republican for the first time in my life. The Democratic Party have greatly under-estimated the masses who will turn to vote for McCain rather than Obama. We will have a Republican as our next President. Obama and his groomers will never have the opportunity to spread their hatred and rasicm by way of being our President. As they say, “Everything always comes out in the washing”, and it will.

Thank you for bringing the issue of coyote attacks to national attention. Back in 1997 our local Santa Barbara newspaper carried an article I wrote after 4 months of research on the subject. In a nutshell:

Coyotes have followed man into urban areas and opportunistically taken advantage of abundant and easy to seize meals, i.e., our pets.

In the wild coyotes pup once a year giving birth to litters of approx. 6-8 pups. In urban areas they pup twice annually, on average, to litters of 8-10 pups. Their numbers are increasing exponentially and outside of the mountain lion are not prey to another animal.

In California it is illegal to trap coyotes. In addition it is illegal to discharge firearms within most counties leaving residents with little in their arsenal to protect themselves and their pets.

Coyotes can and do attack humans, most of the time in broad daylight. There are reports of them biting people eating lunch on the grounds of corporate campuses in California and elsewhere.

They cost agriculturists millions of dollars in damaged irrigation systems that pups use for teething. In addition, many municipal airports are forced to spend time and money repairing runway light conduit for the same reason.

There was an overwhelming response to my article with many people contributing their coyote attack story. One from a dad who wrote that one summer afternoon he, his two year old son, as well as the family dog and cat were out on the front lawn of their home when from the neighbor’s bushes came a coyote. It came within a few feet of the child grabbing the cat by the scruff of the neck. The father and dog both took off after the animal. After a brief chase down the block the coyote dispatched the cat leaving it in need of hundreds of dollars worth of veterinary care.

In my research I found general apathy amongst too many across the nation who work in animal control. I was told, “Oh sure they’ll munch on a rabbit or maybe a cat or two, but they won’t harm people.” Coyotes, however romanticized the lore, are becoming more than a nuisance, they are becoming increasingly more brazen and dangerous. Solutions such as covering garbage cans and bringing pet food inside are offered, but with the coyote population on a steep and steady rise such solutions are palliative at best. More attacks on humans are guaranteed with mortalities as a certain result.

(By the way, I am an animal lover who currently has 5 cats and have taken in the sick, aged, and physically challenged animal.)

However, I am more than disappointed in your lack of coverage of the acts of civil disobedience that occurred in New York City on 5/7/08, in response to the verdict in the Sean Bell trial. Here’s a fact we “native” Californians discuss every time the animal attacks start occurring such as the coyote recent attacks which are increasing. In the past, specifically the last Quake that collapsed our 14 FWY overpass, there became an increase of wild life attacks from not only coyotes but cougars (an other cats), or just bears coming down from the Mountains and wild hill sides! As you may know some of the oldest, most expensive wooded hillsides have long been hidden areas for celebreties, (Studio City) yes right in the “heart of LA” even Doger Stadium!
It is something you might have the resources to look-into. Myself, I am desidedly nervous about another “Big One” first all small ones around us, now the animals! Left me tell you, when that overpass went down, we were cut-off from LA Trucking Routes and there was a run on the grocery stores before I even thought to panic, lol. The possibility is really scary!!

I am so tired of hearing how President Bush’s stimulus package is going to help the economy. It may help some people, but does nothing for those of us who receive Social Security Disability, SSI, Cash Assistance, Food Stamps, and State Assisted Medical.

I am permanently disabled and raising two minor grandchildren, in the capacity of their Legal Guardian. IF I apply for, and most likely would receive, the stimulus package, I have to report it as income. In turn the Department of Economic Services would deduct it from my grandchildrens Cash Assistance or the household Food Stamps.

This is nothing unusal for me to experience. Each year I receive a cost of living increase to my SSD & sometimes my SSI. Each year the Department of Economic Security reduces the same amount from the Cash Assistance or household Food Stamps. It puzzles me as to why I am given the cost of living increase only to have my state assistance reduced by the same amount. Is this a redundant process or what? The governor of Arizona has told me this does not occur. I beg to differ with her. I am on the brunt end of this transfer every year. It does occur. Talk about a waste of tax payer money.

Income I receive from SSD ($609 per month) & SSI ($48 per month) leaves me so far below the poverty level it is rediculous. The Cash Assistance I receive for my two grandchildren is $275 per month and Food Stamps for 4 people of $264 per month. Every six months I have to literally fight for them to get any assistance. My income will never change, yet I have been deemed as financially self-sufficient more than four times and had all of my documentation lost so many times I have lost count, since June 2007. I have ask for Community Legal Services help, written to the Attorney General, the Govenor, and have dealt with The State Client Advocate for DES. Everything has fallen on deaf ears leaving me in a constant state of turmoil fighting to get assistance for us to survive on. There is a definate problem with any agency who is supposed to be there to help those in need, yet forces you to appeal their decisions every six months, if not more often, to get assistance you need.

I receive no support from the biological parents of my grandchildren and never will. There lifestyle of drug abuse is far more important to them than the care of their children.

I am divorced and have no other source’s of income. Yet, I have been told I should be greatful for what I receive. I am greatful I receive what I do, but the stimulus money should have gone where it would do the most good, to those of us who are beyond seeing any daylight ahead of us, not to aid people who made bad financial decisions or are capable of working but choose not to do so. I would trade places with any of them in a heartbeat just to be capable of working again and stop being driven crazy by government systems that are complete failures.

Sen. Hillary Clinton should stay in the Race!!! Here’s an example as to why - They’re playing the Super Bowl - one team playing in the third quarter is ahead by 1 point - they declare they’re the winners, however, this would not happen - the fans would go crazy! That makes no sense, so why do some people think Sen. Clinton should bow out when the Race continues until till Aug 2008 at the Democratic National Convention!!!

How obvious it is when Obama is speaking, all the “fans” behind him are WHITE. But, when the camera pans back and you see the REAL audiance, they are all BLACK.
What a big farce this is. They want the world to THINK that 99% of the people for him are WHITE, but the truth lies in front of his face. They are all BLACK! What a FARCE!! He has been heard saying that there needs to be MORE WHITES on the stage behind him when he speaks. Has anybody else noticed this? I’d say 99-1/2% of the people in the US that will vote for the BLACK candidate are BLACK. It’s a FACT!! Pay attention America. I don’t want a muslim as the President of the United States. Why are they asking Senator Clinton to quit? if the Democratic Party wanted the results sooner, and the election over, then they needed to end the primary sooner, like Feb. and hold the convention in June. Florida and Michigan loss the right to vote because they moved up the primary date and for the last 3 months all of the so call big politicians have wanted her to quit for months, why? I live in FL and a few politicians…republicans and 1 democrat took the vote away from all democrats in the state of Florida, we loss our right to vote for the democrat nominee, (becaues they moved up the date), not a law but a rule. I’m still in a state of shock, we loss our right to vote, now is this democracy or is this election fixed. Since the end of the primary is in June, why can’t we wait till the end, no one should be asking either candidate to quit until it is over!!! I am switching from Democrat to independent, I will not be associated with the Democratic party ever!
this election is fixed just like the Supreme court election from 2000, “Florida again.” I want to move…buy I cannot sell my house. It has been 8 long years since I moved to this state.

Clinton touts support from ‘white Americans’

(CNN) — In what appear to be the New York senator’s most blunt comments to date regarding a racial division in the Democratic presidential race, Hillary Clinton suggested Wednesday that “White Americans” are increasingly turning away from Barack Obama’s candidacy.

“I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on,” Clinton said in an interview with USA TODAY.

Clinton cited an Associated Press poll “that found how Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”

“There’s a pattern emerging here,” she said.

Exit polls from Tuesday’s primaries in Indiana and North Carolina show Clinton won about 60 percent of the white vote in both states. That percentage is down from the Ohio primary on March 4, in which Clinton won upwards of 65 percent of the white vote. Meanwhile, Clinton garnered 63 percent of the white vote in Pennsylvania on April 22.

Speaking with the paper, Clinton rejected the notion her comments were racially divisive in any way.

“These are the people you have to win if you’re a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election,” she said. “Everybody knows that.”

Obama spokesman Bill Burton called Clinton’s statements “not true and frankly disappointing.”

Its comments like that that continues to divide the party. If Hillary continues to remain in the party, the least she can do is make it positive instead of bashing Obama about the “white” vote. They are on the same team but she is running against him like the Republicans would. It is a sad thing in America that “race” will never go away and will always be a part of our every day lives. Hillary and Bill are not prejudice people al all. But it’s the comments like that that harms the party and plays on people emotions.

If Obama doesn’t win the general election in November, it will not be because he is inexperienced, shamefully, it will be because he is black and the people would rather vote a third term Bush instead of voting for a black man. I USED TO have such high regard for the Clintons. I defended them vigorously in their darkest hours to friends, family and co-workers. When this race started I was leaning towards supporting her, but as I got to know Barack Obama his genuiness, grace and intelligence so impressed me that I decided I would cast my vote for him. At the time, I would have happily supported Clinton if she were the nominee.

Over the last two months I have become increasingly disappointed in Hillary. Today’s comments broke the proverbial camel’s back. When I read them, I was in suspended disbelief. She is too intelligent to pretend that these remarks are not racially divisive. Even if one were to buy the argument that they are not divisive, then they are most certainly offensive.

And don’t tell me she was just citing a poll. Given her position and her mission, this was race baiting at its worst. It was insulting to many and I suspect insulting to every “working, hardworking, African American” in this country.

Whatever respect I had left for her is now gone and irretrievable.

Unfortunately, these are the comments that have and will continue to divide the democratic party. I don’t agree that the “white blue hard working americans” are the hardcore of the party. For over 40 years the african americans have been completely loyal to the party. She is divisive and I belive in the law of carma. This will back fire her in November or if she does win the presidency I don’t believe that she will have a good 4 years. If there is any trend that suggests that white americans are leaning toward voting for Clinton, it’s because she is causing the division between the races. The longer she stays in and deploys her husband to different parts of the country, with his hate-filled speaches against Obama, then white americans will side with someone they feel attached to. Hillary is causing division among EVERYONE who supports the Democratic party. Her ego is causing racial tensions within the party as well. I believe if it were a white male or female in the race ahead of Hillary, then she would have thrown in the towel a long time ago.
